Editorial Policy
Last updated: September 2026
This page explains who writes our content, how we research it, how we keep it current, and — just as importantly — what our content is not. We publish it because nutrition information for people living with diabetes should be traceable to a process, not just to a confident tone of voice.
Who writes our content
Recipes, meal plans and guides are produced by the Glucose Smart Kitchen editorial team. Every guide carries a byline and the date it was last reviewed so you can see how current it is.
How we research
Our nutrition guidance is drawn from public health and professional bodies whose recommendations are freely available, such as the American Diabetes Association, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. Where a figure appears in our content — a carbohydrate range per meal, a glycemic index value, a fiber target — it reflects general population guidance from sources of that kind, not our own clinical research.
Medical review
We do not currently claim medical review of our articles. When we engage a registered dietitian or physician to review our content, that person will be named on this page and credited by name on each article they review, along with the review date. Until you see such a credit, please read our content as general education written by an editorial team, not as clinically reviewed material.
Nutrition figures
Nutrition values in our recipes are estimates calculated from standard ingredient databases. They will shift with brands, portion sizes, substitutions and preparation method. If you count carbohydrates precisely for insulin dosing, verify the numbers against your own ingredients rather than relying on ours.
Keeping content current
We review our guides periodically and update them when public health guidance changes or when we find an error. The review date shown on each guide reflects the last time the content was checked, not simply when it was first written.
Corrections
If you spot something inaccurate, tell us through our Contact page. We correct factual errors promptly and note substantive corrections on the affected page.
Independence and advertising
We display advertising and take part in affiliate programs, as described in our Disclaimer. Advertisers and affiliate partners have no input into which foods, ingredients or approaches we recommend, and no say in our editorial content.
What this content is not
Nothing on this site is medical advice, a diagnosis, or a treatment plan, and it is not a substitute for care from your own doctor, endocrinologist or registered dietitian. Diabetes management is individual: medication, activity, other conditions and personal targets all change what the right choice is for you. Always consult your healthcare provider before making significant dietary changes.
